Objectives: The D-CREDO project aims to strengthen the competencies of health professions students and educators in using digital health tools for clinical reasoning and clinical reasoning education. The project supports learners in understanding how digital technologies influence clinical reasoning and in using these technologies critically and appropriately. At the same time, it supports educators in integrating digital health and clinical reasoning into curricula and teaching practice.
Activities: During the reporting period, the consortium further developed and implemented the D-CREDO educational framework and learning resources. Based on a joint review of the literature and agreed learning objectives, international and multidisciplinary teams developed and extended learning units combining clinical reasoning with digital health topics. These include virtual patient cases and other digital learning activities. The learning units were implemented and evaluated at partner institutions. In parallel, the consortium worked on guidance for educators, dissemination activities, and approaches for the sustainable provision and integration of the developed resources.
Results: D-CREDO has produced a collection of adaptable learning resources addressing clinical reasoning in the context of digital health. The resources include virtual patient cases and learning activities that explicitly address the use and critical appraisal of digital health tools in clinical decision-making. Several learning units have been piloted at partner institutions, providing empirical feedback on their usability and educational value and supporting their further refinement. The project has also developed a common educational framework and guidance for integrating the materials into existing curricula. Current work focuses on finalising the open educational resources, disseminating the project results to educators and other stakeholders, and establishing structures for their sustainable use beyond the project period.
